Railways, by far, is the most economically convenient mode of transportation in India. Keeping in mind the huge population of our country, it accommodates a large number of passengers.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that handles the catering, tourism, and online ticketing operations of the Indian Railways, with millions of bookings every day.

Consumers using IRCTC face various points of deficiency in service and they should know how to claim justice for the mishandlings by filing a complaint against IRCTC.

The Several Grounds for Filing Consumer Complaints against IRCTC are:

  • Seat not allotted even after Ticket Confirmation.
  • Unhygienic Railway premises and trains.
  • Dirty train Compartment and Washroom.
  • Dirty Blankets provided in the Train Compartment.
  • Poor Quality Food served.
  • Faulty Electrical Equipment.
  • Misbehavior of the Train Staff.
  • Unavailability of Water in the Train and Platforms.
  • Not getting a Refund after Ticket Cancellation.

Filing consumer complaints online

Filing a consumer complaint against IRCTC has become easier with the advent of digital services. The IRCTC website allows you to lodge a complaint on their portal but, to be honest, the process is full of hassle and the waiting period is never-ending.

Thus, it is recommended to use online mode for lodging a consumer complaint for faster remedy. One can sit anywhere and file an online complaint against IRCTC at the country’s very own consumer protection platform, Online Legal India™.

Trusted by more than 1,20,000+ common masses in India, the specialized Advocate panel here provides the 360° legal support to fight for your consumer rights and guides you until the case is resolved.

I have booked 3 seats in 3 tier AC on train PGT to MAS 02652.out of 3 seats, 2 are for ladies, aged 30 and 50.i selected lower berth preferred for ladies and the 3rd seat for male,so I did not prefer any seat.for my fate , IRCTC allotted 2 middle and 1 upper. that also for the lady 50+ aged has to climb the upper berth. What an un ethical, harsh decision on seat allotment!!! If IRCTC is loyal, it has to show the seat before payment.so that we can decide whether to travel on your train or look for other option. But IRCTC first take all the charge then only it shows its ugly face on seat allotment.if we try to cancel also another 570 rs will be penalized for the cancellation.it is called day light robbery and pure fraud.also one more incident, IRCTC show RAC in sleeper class and 3 seats only in AC.while travelling I noticed so many seats were empty in AC coach.what a fraud!!!! IRCTC should be vanished.atleast myself going to ignore train services hereafter.

How come general coaches are allowed for reservation? Due to this there us no wearing option for people who arrive at the station early to onboard in general coaches, as later people are coming to claim their reserved seat. This is not the case before pandemic and expecting the correction soon.

i had booked train ticket for Muzaffarpur to New Delhi from IRCTC on 19th February 2022. whose PNR no. is 6364230718. at the time of booking i was allotted berth number 20 and 21respectively in AC 3 tire coach number B6 for two passengers. today while traveling on 05 march TT deboarded the passengers saying that PNR number has been seized, you cannot travel. The PNR no seized by IRCTC without any prior any information due to which the passengers have been deprived of the journey and have to bear the loss of the ticket fare. No satisfactory reply has given after complaining to IRCTC.
