1) Mandatory Documents

It can include;

a) Photo ID Proof such as a PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport of the Food Business Operator (FBO).

b) A recent passport-size photograph of the applicant.

c) Business Address Proof

Business Address proof can include:

• Rent Agreement and No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the landlord (If rented)

• Utility bill like Electricity/Water bill, Property Tax receipt, or Sale Deed (If Owned)

d) Form A

Duly filled and signed Application Form

2) Business-Specific Documents

This mainly covers:

a) Nature of Business Details

A list of food categories/products handled, manufactured, or sold.

b) Self-Declaration for Compliance

A signed declaration that shows the FBO will follow the hygiene and sanitary standards. This is stated in Schedule 4 of the FSSAI Regulations.

c) Optional/Supplementary

It is not always required for basic registration. However, having a Shop & Establishment License or MSME registration certificate can be useful for verification.

How to Apply for FSSAI Basic Registration?

The following steps to apply for FSSAI Basic Registration:

Step 1: Accessing the portal

Firstly to start the FSSAI basic registration process you need to visit the FoSCoS portal. Then, make a user account using a valid phone number and email address.

Step 2: Determine Category

Once done, you need to choose the correct category. Choosing the right category is based on your revised turnover and Kind of Business (KoB).

Step 3: Filling the Application

After choosing the category, you need to fill out the application form. If you are applying the basic registration, you need to fill in form A. However, in case of FSSAI state license, you need to fill up form B.

Step 4: Upload the correct Document

After filling in the form, you need to upload all the required documents on the FoSCoS portal.

Step 5: Paying the Fees

Once you have uploaded document, you need to make the required online payment.

Step 6: Download Certificate
